Mission

Founded in 2026 by Jordan Wanderer, Wanderer Dance Works is a NYC based contemporary dance company committed to nurturing artistry and creative expression through the body. Wanderer Dance Works aims to inspire fellow artists and audiences alike to contemplate all facets of human connection through the research, creation, and performance of original choreographic works. Through refined dance-centered projects, the company uses embodied empathy to explore the full range and nuance of human emotions from introspective meditations to the interpersonal struggles and joys of existence.

As a late diagnosed autistic woman, Wanderer is fascinated by her own internal world and the ways that manifests through interpersonal relationships, from friends and lovers to communities and larger systems of power. Her art is her way of attempting to be understood and revealing those parts of herself that have been deemed not socially acceptable. The company’s aim is to provide Wanderer and other guest choreographers a way to better understand themselves, and in doing so, evoke a shared humanity.
